GREG LOWRY

Greg Lowry, a natural born Artist. Greg's skills were developed by pencil at a very early age. Since childhood and throughout high school his drawing of Hot Rods and Monsters competed with school classes. Exams were done in haste in order to exploit the reverse blank drawing area of the large format test papers. Lowry's meticulous industrial drawing style lent itself to possibly specialize into architecture from the drafting classes.
Of course it was assumed Art was to be his post education training but, NO!, it was the electronics field which captivated his interest, later earning him an electronics degree and eventually a career in performing Laser Light Shows (Laserium) at the McLaughlin Plaetarium in Toronto. It was the perfect symbiosis of "Applied Arts & Technology"; where the two disciplines became fused as Techno-Art. Following the several years within this exciting industry with various companies and locations a major change brought Greg and his wife to be in the country life where he would return to traditional painting.
Since 1985 they live on a farm in the beautiful Mulmur Hills, one hour north of Toronto. Much of that time was spent manually developing their estate beyond the "pioneering status" as they had no electricity nor running water in their first year.
Lowry has worked as a freelance Artist illustrating books, porfolio's as well as painting private commissions and murals. Greg is obsessed with realism taking much inspiration from the paintings of the Baroque and Renaissance periods. Greg believes only when you can literally paint what you see can you then justify distorting a vision with what you feel or accurately transcribe what you can imagine! With this in mind he feels by mastering realism one can communicate "the message" literally rather than by abstract which becomes a hysterical imitation of the real world. Greg's passion is to render the female form in all its naked glory and feels, like Vargas, nothing is more beautiful than a beautiful woman!
Greg Lowry continues to practice in traditional painting where each signature brush stroke breathes life and love towards the significance of symbolized sexual liberation and feminine power! Greg welcomes you to consider a custom commission as anything goes! He paints in most media - oil, acrylic, airbrush, pen, pencil and the old masters technique egg yolk emulsion tempera.
