John Page was born in Sussex,
England in 1947. From the age of three he was encouraged by his
mother to draw and paint. By the age of ten his first drawings
of horses and portraits began to show his natural talent. At
the age of ten John emigrated to Canada where he won numerous
prizes with his work. This culminated in one exhibit being hung
in The Canadian National Exhibition Centre in Toronto.
Upon returning to England, he
went into Engineering but maintained his love for art by joining
a local art society. Encouraged by talented artist John Brangwyn,
he went on to win prizes for landscapes. Attracted to aircraft,
John joined "The Guild Of Aviation Artists" where he
quickly became an associated member. It was not long before his
paintings were exhibited at annual exhibitions in London. In
the late eighties, he won the coveted "John Pooley Sword
Award" for a painting of a large landscape, depicting hang
gliders. Since receiving this award, John's success has gone
from strength to strength with his paintings of aircraft being
published in The Guild of Aviation Artists book "Five Ages
of Aviation".
British Airways at Heathrow
has two of John's paintings hanging in their executive boardroom.
BA's Chairman Lord Marshall, commissioned John to complete a
series of works for other international locations.
1995 saw his first international
print launched in England. This was such a resounding success
that a second print, depicting Richard Noble's Land Speed Record
in Thrust 2, followed with equal success.
John has also had paintings
on show in the Middle East, and is now again living in Canada
where he is working to establish his art in the part of the world.
His latest publication if from his painting of the first land
vehicle to exceed the speed of sound, in Black Rock Desert, Nevada,
U.S.A. on October 15th 1997.
