From the day his father raced
Austin Mini Cooper's and mechaniced for drivers such as Grahm
Hill and Stirling Moss (during their Saloon car stints), to the
annual family excursions to the F1 and CAN-AM races at Mosport
- Toronto born artist Nigel Osborne quickly developed a passion
for motorsports.
However, Nigel never was restricted
to drawing and painting just racing cars as a child, he drew
everything and anything while his parents maintained a steady
supply of coloured pencils, paper and paint. From rock musicians
to nature and wildlife, Nigel always made art class a part of
his curriculum throughout public, junior high and high school.
During his college years he put down his paintbrush and discovered
a new passion-music. For 12 years Nigel ate, slept and drank
music while performing and recording as a guitarist with numerous
bands. During this time, it seemed, he never even doodled on
a pad of paper next to the telephone.
But eventually, he realized
his interest for auto racing and art never really left him. Picking
up where he left off, Nigel has completed numerous high-realism
renditions of Formula 1 and CART images since 1993. Nigel works
almost exclusively with acrylic on illustration board.
Evolving into the field of computer
graphics and print media, Nigel started his own graphic design
business in 1997, he currently works in the publishing industry
in Toronto and resides in Hamilton, Ontario. His future goals
include building his business into a full-time venture while
seeking publishing and distribution deals to promote his motorsport
artwork throughout North America.
